Unit Options is a new and innovative way to invest in global equity markets. You will have a chance to gain, not just in bullish markets but in both directions, up or down.

What are Citibank Unit Options ?
A Unit Option is an instrument that has been uniquely created to track the movement of an underlying stock index (e.g. Dow Jones or Nasdaq-100) or an underlying individual stock (e.g. IBM or JDS Uniphase).

There are 2 types of Unit Options available, tracking a large assortment of underlying stocks and indices. They are the Call Unit Options and Put Unit Options. In simple terms, you would buy Calls when you are bullish on the underlying stock or index. And you would buy Puts when you are bearish. This explains why you stand to benefit from the opportunity to trade on both up-movements and down-movements in the markets. You never have to sit out bearish conditions ever again!

How do I Benefit from Unit Options ?
Unit Options do not restrict you to investing and benefiting only in bullish market conditions. If you have a view that a stock is going to fall, you can benefit from it by buying Put Unit Options.

With Unit Options, you get to access and trade on equity markets in the US and Europe during Asian trading hours. This access also extends to some stocks in Japan, Hong Kong and Australia.

Typically, financial instruments similar to Unit Options have been traded in million-dollar transaction sizes only available to large institutional players or high networth individuals. Now, Citibank makes it easy for you to invest in Unit Options from as low as US$5,000.

For the experienced investor, you may like to know that Unit Options give you leverage. This means that if your view comes true, the percentage gain you enjoy from the Unit Options position may be a multiple of the percentage change on the underlying stock or index. This is true for both cases of predicting that the underlying will go up or down.
